This moment has been two months in the making. We have toiled and sweat ourselves delirious making our new home both functional and beautiful. You can take a look at the “before” pictures here (you can also view some progress photos here). There have been plenty of challenges, but we are so thankful to be all settled in now. Okay, okay… I know you are anxious to see Thistle (our RV’s name). So come on in!
When you first walk in, our bedroom is on the right. I’m very proud of how is room turned out. As you may remember, we had to replace the whole back wall and part of the ceiling in here. I just love sleeping in here knowing that all the rotten wood and funk is gone! Now it is a beautiful, peaceful place to rest.
Next is the living area. You may remember the very dated upholstery and valence fabric. We gave it a much-needed update by re-covering everything, as well as replacing the carpet with vinyl and adding a more modern border to the walls. We also turned the TV cabinet into more storage space.
Now, if you turn around, you’ll see our kitchen! Thankfully, not much had to change in here. We just added a magnetic bar for our knives behind the stove.
To the right of the kitchen is the bathroom. It’s small, but the fixed-up skylight and custom shower curtain make it feel bigger.
At the back of the RV, behind a curtain, you’ll see the kids room. This room was so fun to work on because I knew I wanted to make it really special for Abby and Josh. We removed the left bottom bunk to create a play area and repurposed the top bunk as a reading nook for Abby. We call it the treehouse!
I hope you enjoyed the tour! Now join us on the patio for a beer!
Thistle, is a 30″ Four Winds travel trailer with one slide out.

June 10, 2015 at 9:18 pmkris it is beautiful. I sure see your mama’s hand in the decorating. She has such wonderful taste and creative ideas (as I am sure you do also)
. I know it is small, but I have friends that gave up a big townhouse in California and took to the road in an rv. That was 20 years ago. They have lived in several parks, been all over the US and part of Canada. She says she will never go back to living in a house. They are now permanent residents of a place in Parhump Nv., at a lovely rv park that has a swimming pool, library, activity center, pool room, etc. plus casinos. They are happy campers. Hope you enjoy your new adventures. Love Grandma Libby
